Amy Cantini is a self-taught jewelry artisan. Creativity itself is not new to her as it has been passed down for generations. Taught by her mother, Kathleen Moss, and her maternal grandmother, Amy learned to cross stitch, needlepoint, and sew. Among other things, she also learned a bit of carpentry from her paternal grandfather and her brother. Born of necessity, Amy has learned to make something of nothing. "If you can't afford the finer things of life, you make what you want from what you have or from what you can get, whether it's painting old furniture to have a matching bedroom set or using lumber and spray paint to make shelves that would cost a fortune pre-made." Amy is a stay-at-home mother of two beautiful boys. In order to attempt to help her husband make ends meet, that necessity element, Amy took up jewelry making, "mostly because beads take up less room than fabric and wood".
Amy has a love of times past and far away places - days of knights and dragons, castles and kings. It is her hope that this love is reflected in her jewelry. It must be said, however, that she is a very casual girl. So while her jewelry may be slightly reminiscent of the past, it is made for today's woman in her blue jeans.
